Clarification Regarding Bathing and Laundry

As we were getting the initial word out regarding the boil advisory, we included bathing and laundry in the public notices out of an abundance of caution, and we need to clarify.  It is safe to do laundry as usual.  The water may be used for showering, baths, shaving, etc., so long as care is taken to ensure water is not swallowed or allowed into the eyes, nose, or mouth.  Children and disabled individuals should have their bathing supervised to ensure water is not ingested.  Time spent bathing should be minimized.  Individuals who have had recent surgical wounds, are immunosuppressed, or have chronic illnesses may want to consider using bottled or boiled water for cleansing until the advisory is lifted.  We realize this has been a considerable inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize and appreciate your understanding that all of our communication and effort has been with a focus first and foremost toward ensuring our customers’ health and safety.
