Left Hand Creek Water Quality

Many of you have seen an article in the paper concerning an investigation by the CDPHE and EPA on discolored water and a fish kill in the upper reaches of Left Hand Canyon.  The Left Hand Water District continuously monitors and tests the water at our intake structure at the mouth of the Left Hand Canyon roughly 15 miles downstream.  Water quality testing conducted by the District for both raw water at our intake and treated water at our water plants has shown no change from samples we have collected throughout the year and historically.  Our drinking water continues to meet and exceed all State and Federal Regulations.  We will continue to monitor the situation on a daily basis for updates from CDPHE and the EPA.  The EPA has also opened a website about their response and actions: https://response.epa.gov/LeftHandCreekDischarge.  If you have further questions, please contact:  waterquality@lefthandwater.org
